Hari Raya Haji, also known as Eid-al-Adha, or the Festival of the Sacrifice, commemorates the obedience of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as God commanded.

At Hari Raya Haji, many Muslims make a special effort to pray and listen to a sermon at a mosque. In Singapore, they also wear new clothes, visit friends and family. Mosques and Muslim organisations will also perform the Islamic sacrificial rites of Korban, where usually lamb or sheep are slaughtered, and the lamb meat is given to worshippers and the needy. The sacrificed lamb represents the animal that Ibrahim sacrificed in the replacement for Ishmael.
